Berlin Supplemental Motor Vehicle Taxes Due By Feb. 3

Don't be delinquent (and save yourself some cash) – your motor vehicle taxes are due in under a month.

Berlin Revenue Collector David Kluczwski is attempting to enhance local revenue and save taxpayers money in the process by reminding those with a supplemental motor vehicle tax that their due date is coming in the near future.

Taxes for supplemental motor vehicles, those individuals that registered a vehicle after Oct. 1, 2012 aand before Aug. 1, 2013, was technically due as of Jan. 1, Kluczwski said in a press release. As of Feb. 3, 2014, those outstanding bills will be considered delinquent and subject to any fees and additional fines.

“Any and all unpaid back motor vehicle taxes must be paid in full, by cash or certified check, before payment may be made on the supplemental motor vehicle taxes,” Kluczwski added.

The town maintains an interest rate of 1.5 percent per month, from Jan. 1 onward, for any late bills. Bills are also subject to a minimum $2 charge.

Any person liable for this tax who did not receive a bill should contact the Revenue Collector’s Office at (860) 828-7023. Failure to receive a bill does not relieve one from liability of payment, he stated.
