Aresimowicz Cannot Comment Until He Is Called To Testify Or Case Is Over

House Majority Leader hopes constituents to hear all the facts and not associate him with possible Donovan impropriety.

Joe Aresimowicz told Berlin Patch Monday night that he can't say much about him being named as one of the witnesses who may possibly be called to testify in the trial of Robert Braddock Jr.

Braddock Jr. is the former campaign finance director for former House Speaker Chris Donovan.

A report on CT News Junkie said 36 people were included on the witness list including sitting lawmakers: House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin-Southington), House Minority Leader Larry Cafero (R-Norwalk) and Rep.  Patricia Widlitz (D-Guilford.)

Aresimowicz said that while he can't comment at this time, he is confident that he will be able to talk about why he was on the list and his knowledge of the situation when the trial is over.

"I am limited in what I can say because this is an ongoing trial," Aresimowicz said.

According to CT New Junkie Braddock was charged with three counts of conspiring to hide the source of $27,500 in campaign donations to Donovan on behalf of a group of smoke shop owners looking to defeat legislation.

Aresimowicz name was mentioned several times during the opening day of testimony
