Monday morning, a Hubbard School student walking to school saw a suspicious blue van with tinted windows on Cottage Street in East Berlin.
According to a notice that went home to parents:
"To his credit, the student immediately ran to the crossing guard and reported his observations after feeling increasingly uneasy regarding the driving patterns of the driver of the van. In turn, the police were contacted by the guard and provided pertinent information obtained from the student report."
Berlin police patrolled the area but did not see the van when they got to the area.
The notice to parents said this is an opportunity to remind their children what to do regarding interactions with strangers to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
