(Updated) Man Dies After Hit and Run

Berlin Police are investigating the cause of a car versus pedestrian accident on the Chamberlain Highway Saturday night.

A car versus pedestrian accident has left one man in serious condition and led to the arrest of another following the incident on the Chamberlain Highway Saturday night.

Berlin police are investigating the cause of the accident, which took place near 41 Chamberlain Highway when officers said a man crossing the street was hit by a car, leaving him with serious injuries. He was taken to the nearby Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain campus, police confirmed.

The driver of the vehicle proceeded to take off from the scene shortly after the accident, which occurred shortly after 8 p.m. He was located a short distance away after witnesses were able to obtain his plate information from witnesses and was taken into custody in the hit-and-run.

The names of the victim and person arrested were not immediately available Sunday. Further information regarding the accident was not released as the investigation continues.
