Berlin Public Schools called parents this afternoon to tell them that there would be an increased police presence as schools were dismissed due to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.
The schools are not in lockdown but there is a heightened level of security at all of the Berlin Public Schools.
Any parents having questions or needing help in counseling their children should contact the schools offices.
