Home On Circlewood Only Has Minor Fire Damage

Wednesday morning, April 11, at approximately 11:20 a.m., the Town of Berlin Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 89 Circlewood Drive, East Berlin. 

On arrival smoke was seen from the rear of the residence and upon entry fire crews found a smoke condition in the finished basement. A further search of the basement found a fire in the ceiling assembly in the laundry room. The fire was quickly extinguished and the residence was cleared of smoke. 

The resident, who was home at the time of the fire, smelled smoke and after checking the residence with a contractor who was with her at the home found the fire in the laundry room. 

The ceiling area and the laundry room sustained minor fire and smoke damage.  The cause of the fire appears to be from a malfunctioning dryer vent. There were no reported injuries.
