Early Morning Fire Lights Up the Sky

Early this morning a Berlin Police Officer found a tractor trailer at the Peterbilt of Connecticut Sales Lot on Meadow Lane and Berlin Turnpike South on fire. 

The Fire Department was called and Engine 8, Squad 4, Rescue 1 and Truck 9 from Berlin, Kensington and East Berlin responded. It took just about 15 minutes to get the fire under control and the fire was contained to just one truck before it could spread to trucks on either side of it. 

Fire Marshal Steve Waznia said the fire was an accident.

"The truck had mechanical problems in Massachusetts earlier in the day and was towed to that site," Waznia said. "So as it turns out something mechanical caused the fire."
