A Unionville man is facing charges after police said he had shot a firearm off in late 2013 in an inappropriate manner.

Officers this week took Michal Wojteczko, of 14 Colony Road in Berlin, into custody after he turned himself in for an active warrant. He was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief, unlawful discharge of a firearm and possession of weapons in a motor vehicle.

According to court records, the incident stems from a Sept. 22, 2013, call that police received. Detectives learned that Wojteczko, 22, had fired a firearm in Berlin, putting others at risk. No one was hurt during the incident.

Police were unable to immediately provide additional information Friday.

Wojteczko has developed a history regarding firearm and weapons. In October 2013, Bristol police took him into custody on charges including criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, criminal use of a weapon/firearm and second-degree threatening.

He has entered a not guilty plea in that case.

The 22-year-old was released after posting a $1,000 court set bond following arraignment and is due back in New Britain Superior Court on Jan. 15, court records show.

Berlin police did not report any additional arrests/citations this week.
