Berlin Police Says Beware Of Phone Scams

Callers have been asking Berlin residents for money to bail someone out of jail.

Over the past few days someone has been scamming the community. The scam happens over the phone. If you or your friends or relatives receive a phone call and the caller says that a relative is in jail, needs money for bail, and asks you to wire the money, it's most likely a scam. This has happened recently in Berlin.

If you receive one of these calls please do not send any money. Call the Berlin Police Department at (860) 828-7080 and make a formal complaint.

If you send money the chances of BPD recovering your money is slim to none, with the emphasis closer to none.
