Berlin Police Make Big Drug Bust At 493 Southington Road

Three arrested on multiple charges.

 

As a result of a five month investigation, the Berlin Police Department, with the assistance of New Britain Police Department SWAT Team, Department of Corrections, Plainville Police Department and Department of Consumer Protection/Drug Control Division, executed the second of two search and seizure warrants at 493 Southington Road in the Kensington section of Berlin on Oct. 3.

Seized in addition to various articles of drug paraphernalia were 538 opioid analgesic narcotic tablets with a combined street value of $16,140, Six (6) grams of powdered cocaine, 5.5 ounces of marijuana, a Hi-Standard .22 caliber handgun and $11,127 in cash.

Three suspects were arrested, all of whom reside at 493 Southington Road.

Brian Ziegler, 52, Charges: Possession of Narcotics (6 counts), Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell (4 counts), Failure to Keep Narcotics in Original Container (5 counts), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts).

He was released on $150,000 court set bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on October 17.

Zachary Ziegler, 21, Charges: Possession of Narcotics (3 counts), Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell (4 counts), Failure to Keep Narcotics in Original Container (10 counts), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (3 counts), Possession of less than ½ ounce of Marijuana (2 counts), Illegal Possession of a Firearm without an Eligibility Certificate (1 count).

He was held on $150,000 court set bond and arraigned on Oct. 4 in New Britain Superior Court.

Charles Orcutt, 23, Charges: Illegal Possession of More than 4 Ounces of Marijuana (1 count), Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell (1 count), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (1 count)

He was released on $10,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on October 17.
