5 Hurt When Truck Collides with Amtrak Train in Berlin

The cause of the crash is under investigation.


Five people were injured Monday morning after a tree trimming truck reportedly collided with an Amtrak train in Berlin.

The crash occurred on Norton Lane near Silver Lake around 9:30 a.m. and involved the 490 Train that had left New Haven and was headed to Springfield, with 46 people aboard. The train crashed into a white bucket NU truck, Amtrak officials said, according to a WFSB Channel 3 report.

Four train passengers and the truck worker were injured, but their conditions were released, according to the report which can be found here.

Emergency crews from Berlin, Cromwell, Meriden, New Britain, Westfield, Kensington as well as Hunters Ambulance responded to the scene of the crash that remains under investigation.
