Berlin's Number One Girl's Basketball Fan Passes Away

Skylar Caswell fought valiantly and lived a life that touched anyone she met.

Berlin Girl's Basketball's number one fan, Skylar Caswell, passed away on Tuesday morning according to one of the high school coaches.

She was a fixture on the sideline as a coach for all of the Berlin High School girl's basketball games and was beloved by all of the players and fans.

Last year the girl's basketball team honored Caswell on Senior Night.

The team wore yellow t-shirts and raised money for then 8-year-old Skylar Caswell. She has spina bifida and is restricted to a wheelchair.

“We are going to wear yellow shirts for spina bifida,” said Ashley Malloy, in preparation for the night. “We are going to sell ribbons for $1 and we’re hoping to raise money to help with the medical bills for Sky.

“DD Barrett is a senior and she is really close to Skylar,” Malloy said. “Skylar has had it tough but she has always found a way to get to the games and is an inspiration for us. We all know what she has and understand that things aren’t easy for her. We hope we can put a smile on her face for a little while. We play hard for each other but for her too.”

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
