Chopin & Liszt: Great Romantics of the Piano

Pianist Corbin Beisner will present a solo piano concert within the 2012-2013 Bethany Covenant Music Series at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27th. The program will feature Waltzes and Scherzos by Frederic Chopin and piano sonata in B minor by Franz Liszt.
                                   
A reception will follow the concert. Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill Street (Rt.372), Berlin, Connecticut, is easily located, just off Rt.9- North at Exit 21. The church’s concerts are open to the public, and no tickets are required. A free-will offering will be received and childcare is available. Corbin Beisner was born in 1988 in Las Vegas, NV.  At the age of five, he began studying the piano.  He also studied jazz, composition, and improvisation.

Mr. Beisner has won numerous awards including: 1st Prize in the festival competition in Freiburg, Germany, Premier Prize in the Forum Internacional de Musica competition, the premier prize in the Obidos Piano Competition, and third prize in the International Liszt Competition in California.  He was also a laureate of the first Fulbright Concerto Competition in Arkansas.  In 2011, Mr. Beisner was a semi-finalist in the Louisiana Piano Competition in Alexandria, LA and the 1st prize winner of the II Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, CT.

Mr. Beisner has participated in international piano academies in Germany, Barcelona, Spain, Lake Como, Italy, and Obidos, Portugal.    He has worked with several world-renowned pianists, including Paul Badura-Skoda, Boris Berman, and the late Vitaly Margulis.
 
 He has given concerts around the world, including a series of solo recitals in Spain, performances with the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Indiana Lafayette Symphony, and performances with the Beth El Orchestra in Hartford, CT.  Mr. Beisner currently resides in West Hartford, CT, where he studied with Luiz de Moura Castro and received his Bachelors of Music, summa cum laude, from the Hartt School in CT, USA.

He has been commissioned by the Soiree Society in Nyack, NY to compose various piano works for the last two years.  In 2012, his performance highlights included a week-long concert tour in Louisiana, his fourth concerto appearance with the Beth El Orchestra in West Hartford (Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2), and other recitals throughout the United States.
