This week, we are looking at the Berlin Town Council candidates:

Name: Brenden Luddy
Age: 47
Party, Board Seeking: Republican, Berlin Town Council
Family information: Married, two children
Occupation, if applicable: Chief Estimator
Political Experience: Newcomer
Other Experience:
Coaching Boy’ & Girl’s Berlin Little League, Asst. Cub Master Pack 5 of Willard School, Asst. Scout Master Troup 24 of CT, St. Paul’s Church

Why did you run for office?
To help bring a conservative and fiscally responsible approach to the Town Hall, so that all opinions, ideas, and votes of all our citizens are respected

If elected, what would be your primary areas of focus?
To help keep taxes low, to bring respectability back into the Town, so as not to scare away potential businesses.

What do you feel is the biggest issue facing Berlin today?
Spending more than we take in revenue, not fighting unfunded mandates, and loss of local control of our education system.

What skills do you have that you could bring to the community?
I have worked for small family run businesses, a large fortune 500 construction company, and have learned how to negotiate small and large construction projects. I know what it is like to take on jobs for little or no profit, sometimes even for a loss, just to keep revenue coming so as not to lay off workers. I have also been laid off during this economic recession, although short- lived, I certainly can sympathize with those who find themselves in the same position.

(Optional) Anything else you would like to share?
