A woman was gored by a bull at the Berlin Fair Friday afternoon and had to be airlifted to Hartford Hospital.
The accident happened shortly after 4 p.m., during an event known as the Xtreme Team Bull Rider competition.
The victim was gored in the chest and was initially treated by EMS workers on scene but was taken by Life Star helicopter to the hospital. The woman's condition is unknown.
Several other riders were hurt during the event and were treated on scene. One male bull rider was taken by ambulance to New Britain General Hospital.
Berlin Fair President Peter Hansen called the accident terrible and said it leaves a bad impression of the fair.
The bull riding competition bills itself as a world class event with "some of the toughest bulls on earth in three rounds of man vs beast."
It's not clear whether the event will continue. The Berlin Fair is open through Sunday.
