Timberlin Open Even Without Power

Back nine is very wet but carts may be allowed on it Tuesday.

Timberlin Golf Course is open despite the fact that it has no power and the back nine is very wet after Hurricane Irene.

"We only had carts on the front nine today (Monday) but I think we will be able to get carts out on the whole course tomorrow," said Timberlin golf professional Marc Bayram. "We don't have electricity so we're hoping the carts will hold the charge they have in them."

Bayram also said that golfers can still pay with credit cards.

"We just write down the number and will run it through the machine as soon as we get our electricity back," Bayram said. "If anyone tries to call, they will not get through because our phones aren't working either. If you have tee times, we will honor them but it will probably be more like first come-first served for a while."
