Pediatrician, Veteran Shares His Memories With Crowd At Library

Dr. Robert L. Rackliffe discusses his book with a packed room at Berlin Peck Library.

Many in the crowd who came to hear renowned pediatrician Robert L. Rackliffe speak were at one time patients of the doctor themselves.

The Farmington resident made house calls to many towns in central Connecticut with his office just over the Berlin town line, in New Britain on Arch Street.

Rackliffe spoke about some of his favorite stories from his book From Bombs to Babies and had the audience in the palm of his hands the entire time.

He spoke of incredible brain surgery he had seen in Canada. He spoke of saving a babies' life with dozens of blood transfusions. He even talked about how he helped save a burn victim and her child's life in the same day.

His stories were both humorous and eye-opening as he talked about how far medicine had come in his 80 years.
