Kensington Garden Center Finding Its Footing On Chamberlain Highway

Family-owned store has developed a steady flow of customers.

When Johnson Gardens closed and then another business in that spot on Chamberlain Highway opened then closed, it looked as though the historic spot for growers would be vacant for quite a while.

Instead, the Ellison family, came in and opened Kensington Garden Center. It has been open for over a year now and has found its place in town. The business was recently voted "Best of Berlin 2013" in the category of "Best Garden Center/Nursery" by The Berlin Citizen.

"The Kensington Garden Center aims to become your garden center of choice by providing you with quality garden plants, gardening products, home décor and gifts; and top-notch service, planting and growing advice," said owner Kristopher Ellison. "Our family owned and operated garden center is located at 398 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington."

Ellison is called the Garden Center's "Resident Expert."

"He is our resident expert in all things gardening," said sister Sara Ellison. "He holds a degree in Horticulture from the University of Vermont and brings 13 years of experience gained while working for commercial nurseries throughout Connecticut. Kristopher loves to share his knowledge and is happy to answer your gardening and growing questions. Seek him out in the greenhouse or working in the yard."
