CL&P Hosts Meeting on $40 Million in Renewable Energy Credits

Zero-emissions renewable energy credits to be awarded on first-come, first-served basis.

Connecticut’s electric utilities are more than happy to focus on something other than the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. On Monday, November 5, 2012, Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) in Berlin and United Illuminating (UI) in New Haven will jointly hold an informational meeting to discuss $40 million in zero-emissions renewable energy credits for small projects.

The meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CL&P headquarters, 107 Selden Street in Berlin. Registration is not required.

Unlike larger zero- and low-emissions renewable energy projects, known as ZREC and LREC, the small program projects will not be competitively bid. Fifteen-year contracts to build renewable-energy installations of 100 kilowatts or smaller will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. CL&P and UI can award up to $2.64 million per year for these projects.

For more information on the ZREC/LREC awards, visit CL&P’s website at www.cl-p.com. Click on “Renewable Energy Credits” listed under “Going Green.”
