New Britain-Berlin YMCA Announces Opening of New Summer Theatre

Its inaugural season will launch this summer with the production 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Jr.'

The New Britain-Berlin YMCA has announced the June 2013 opening of The New Britain-Berlin YMCA Summer Theatre. For the first time, the Y will begin to offer theatre and performance workshops to young artists ages 12-17. Their inaugural season will launch this summer with the production “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr.”, produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International, NYC, NY. Eric R. Hutchinson, Director of Arts and Humanities for the Y, is very enthusiastic about the new program:

“The New Britain-Berlin YMCA has always been the authority on “all things sports” throughout the Greater New Britain Area. We are known for our innovative classes, state-of-the-art work out facility, second-to-none childcare, and friendly staff,” Hutchinson says. “With the addition of our new Arts and Humanities programs and Summer Theatre, we hope to revolutionize the way Greater New Britain views arts education, as well.”

“Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” will rehearse every day from 9am-2pm, beginning in June, with performances daily throughout the end of July. Students entering middle school or ages 12-17 are eligible to join the cast. Registration is set to begin in late March. For more information, contact Eric R. Hutchinson at 860 229-3787 or ehutchinson@nbbymca.org.
