For this production, no participation fee will be charged. Teens may also contact NBYT with interest in stage management or other production positions.

I Know I Saw Gypsies consists of several short pieces written by high school playwrights and adapted by Tom Erhard. The play deals with teen issues such as lack of popularity, prejudice, bullying, first love, family relationships and other school troubles. Several of the pieces are comical, many are touching and serious, and all of them are powerful.

The production will be simply staged by NBYT Executive Artistic Director David Sousa, and will give young actors the opportunity to explore voice, emotions, monologues and other acting techniques.

The NBYT Teen Company is a program of New Britain Youth Theater in which teens become involved in choosing, producing and promoting their own theater. The program offers leadership opportunities and a chance for teens to do the shows they want to do, all while under the guidance of NBYT directors.
