Berlin Resident Jon Snow Thinks This Might Be The Band To Influence Others

Deception Fades has already played some major venues and will play the Shrine at Foxwoods Sunday night.

Berlin's Jon Snow has loved music as long as he can remember. He remembers going to Woodstock '99 when he was 14 and thinking he that was the kind of music he wanted to make.

Since then, Snow, who graduated from Berlin High School in 2002, has played in six different bands. He believes that the band he is playing in now, Deception Fades, might just be the one to make it.

"Our main goal is to do what we love to do, which is to create and perform music," Snow said. "We hope to influence others along the way and help others if possible such as you can see with the charity shows we are doing."

Frank Morin, the lead singer, is a soundalike to Aaron Lewis of Staind. Snow plays lead guitar, Dan Mitchell plays drums and Angelo LaBella is on Bass.

"The last band I was in, Elastic Hoax, was a great band and we won a bunch of honors," Snow said. "Our other singer was also my girlfriend. She sounded like Delores O'Riordan of the Cranberries but when we broke up, the band broke up.

"A lot of people get into this for the fortune and fame. While that's great, it's more about influencing other people. We have had bands in Florida ask to play our original song and we have had people say they really love our band. It's a self-actualization of knowing you can be an influential band."

Deception Fades plays The Shrine Sunday night at Foxwoods.

Snow has a few built-in advantages over other bands. First he built a studio in his own home and his band can record at any time. Second, he took a job as the Booking Agent at The Shrine so he is in charge of booking bands on Sunday nights at the most popular club in the largest casino in the world. He worked at The Webster from the time he was 15 to 21 and got to meet many of his idols and see how the business works. He also works for Comcast for his day job but sets his own schedule.

"We have 10 original songs and should have an album ready to go by September," said Snow, who owns Associate, Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Full Sail University in Florida. "We have a lot of shows set up and will go on tour in Florida Jan. 15 to the 28."

To see the band play live, go their facebook page, where the tour schedule is updated with its upcoming dates.

"We're excited," Snow said. "People have called us 'Staind on steroids.' I like that because people can identify with our sound. I have played with everybody, all kinds of music. It's a pretty crazy schedule I lead but I'm making music, which is what I really love to do."
