Area Dancers Will Perform At Orange Bowl

Ten dancers from central Connecticut have been selected to perform in the half-time show of the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida on January 1, 2013.  Mariah Davis (Farmington), Megan Dandini (Simsbury), Hannah Gluck (West Hartford), Margot Paul (Berlin), Delaney Rowe (Avon), Abbey Sheft (West Hartford), Kate Winter (West Hartford), Emma Hallworth (formerly of Canton), Callahan Marsh (Canton), and Veronica Pomeroy (Avon) earned a position in the show through Connecticut's Dance Challenge's audition in May. 

They will join three other Connecticut studios and hundreds of dancers from across the United States on the field of the Sun Life Stadium (formerly the Dolphins Stadium) which seats over 74,000 fans. All of the Connecticut dancers will be wearing ribbons to honor the victims and families of Newtown, CT. 

Cris Judd, a high-profile hip-hop choreographer from Los Angeles has created choreography for the half-time show. Jake Owen, a new popular country music singer will be the featured musical artist. Dance training and workshops prior to the event will be done by elite professionals such as Emmy nominee Travis Wall, a finalist in Fox Network's "So You Think You Can Dance" who is now one of the show's primary contemporary and jazz dance choreographers. 

The Orange Bowl football game and half-time show will be televised on ESPN on January 1, 2013. Check your local listing for channel and air time. This year's contest is between Northern Illinois Huskies and the Florida State Seminoles.
