Youth Sports Results: Majors Softball

Fran's knocks off previously unbeaten Academy Printing.

Major Softball

Fran's 10, Academy 6: Michelle Cohen pitched a complete game beating previously undefeated Academy Printing, 10-6. 

Offensive heroes for Fran's, scoring two runs each were: Mikaela Bourgoin, Alexa Lenteri and Mallory Marino. On the defensive end playing well for Frans were: Emily Cooney, Mia Bellu, Jilian Price, Amanda Funari and Nia Samboy.

Fran's also beat Hadfield's Sports. Michelle Cohen pitched six innings and struck out seven batters in gaining the win. Emily Cooney also pitched one inning with a strikeout.

Offensive heroes were: Alexa Lanteri with the big walk off double to score the winning run, Michelle Cohen scoring six runs, Mary Lattarulo had a double and two singles scoring four runs, Mia Bellu and Jilian Price also scored four runs. Mikaela Bourgoin and Emily Cooney scored three runs apiece.

Defensive heroes were  Alena Kittleman and Amanda Funari. Each making nice plays in the field.

Major Baseball

Hadfield's Sport Shop White Sox 7, Beautified Cabinet Yankees 2: Brendan Ebert struck out 11 batters and picked up the win as the White Sox improved to 7-4 on the season.

Alan Guild led the offense with two hits. Joey Leary scored three runs for the White Sox. Michael McCarthey had two hits for the Yankees.

Hadfield's Sport Shop White Sox 10, Central Ct Lawncare Cardinals 6: Alan Guild Picked up the win for the White Sox and Joey Leary came in with the bases loaded to record the save. Guild also led the offense going 2-2 with a HR and double as well as two walks.

Guild scored four runs. Brendan Ebert also homered for the White Sox. Ebert and Joey Leary each scored two runs. Zachary Philippon homered for the Cardinals.  

Hadfield's Sport Shop White Sox 10, Kensington Auto Mets 9: Joey Leary picked up the win for the White Sox and Steve Miano recorded the last two outs to earn the save as the White Sox improved to 9-5 on the season.

Alan Guild, Brendan Ebert and Miano all had three hits and Anthony Veneziano chipped in with two hits to lead the offense. Josh Veleas helped preserve the win making a long running catch in centerfield with the based loaded and two outs. Kyle Mogielnicki had three hits for the Mets.         

Minor League Softball

Creations 10, NB Orioles 8: Creations softball defeated the New Britain Orioles at Hubbard School field on Tuesday evening, May 24, 10-8.

Berlin was led by the strong pitching of Amy Kuckel and Julia Dowd. Emma Klepacki and Annie Sznaj were superb catching for Creations. Cassidy Gorneault, Kelly Kozlowski, and Jillian Pampuro all provided RBIs during the four inning game.

Berlin scored three runs in its final at-bat, while the winning runs scored with two outs. 

Little League Majors

Kensington Auto Mets 11, Powerhouse Gym Braves 2: The Kensington Auto Mets were led by a solid pitching performance by Kyle Mogelnicki to beat the Powerhouse Gym Braves 11-2. 

Leading the victors at the plate were Mogelnicki, the Biscoglio brothers, Tyler Cop and Spencer Duke with two hits each. Alex Dastoli led the Braves with three hits.

Kensington Auto Mets 4, Arkema Giants 3: The Kensington Auto Mets overcame an early 3-0 deficit against the Arkema Giants to win 4-3. 

The Mets took the lead on a 3-run home run by Vinny Biscoglio. Jarret Gdovin earned the win pitching five innings with David Biscoglio getting his first major league save. Jack Lynch and Nick Naples homered for the Giants.

Academy Softball stays perfect on the season: Academy Printing softball has jumped out to a 6-0 start to lead the Major League softball division.

Academy has beaten Visual Perceptions 6-4 and 11-1, Hadfields 8-3 and 10-4 and Frans 13-3 and 16-5.

All 11 players on the team have at least one hit on the season.

The offense has been led by Vanessa Reimer who has a home run and a double, Grace Reimer who has the most runs scored and two doubles, Nina D'Amato who has two doubles and Emily Conticello who has a triple.

Sarah Yousef and Rianne Mayer have also chipped in on offense. 10-year olds Alyssa Borselle and Julia Ladd both have two games where they had two hits each.

The defense has been very solid all year long led by Vanessa Reimer at short, D'Amato and Grace Reimer, Rianne Mayer at third and Rebecca Mayer at second. Pitching has been the Reimer sisters and D'Amato.

Sara Zliczewski and Phoebe Hurd have also played well for Academy. Hurd knocked in an impoirtant run in a win over Hadfields and Zliczewski has made some nice fielding plays.

Hadfields Sport Shop White Sox 10, Kensington Auto Mets 6: Brendan Ebert picked up the win on the mound. Ebert struck out eight batters in five innings. Ebert improved to 6-0 on the season.

Josh Veleas powered the offense with three hits. Alan Guild, Joey Leary and Sam Capodice each chipped in with two hits. Guild scored three runs and had three RBI.
 
Andrew Rich also pitched well entering the game with the bases loaded to record the save.

With the win the White Sox improved to 6-3 on the season.

Visual Perceptions 20, Bristol Tigers 17: Alyssa Mayer, Angie Perrone, Alex Perrone, Alyssa Gable and Olvia Degroff had two hits each for VP. Meghan Oates made a one handed catch in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded to seal the victory.

Visual Perceptions 14, Frans 8: Alyssa Mayer and Haley Wilhelm pitched well for VP. Niccole Perrotta, Nikki Strobino and Morgan Luciani led the VP offense. Alex Perrone had two hits and and caught for VP. Michelle Cohen pitched well for Frans.

Visual Perceptions 14, Hadfields 5:Angie Perrone pitch a complete game for VP. Toni Grant, Leah Rosanski, and Alyssa Mayer had hits for VP. Haley Wilhelm and Olivia Degroff played well in the field for VP. Alex Perrone turned in two unassisted double plays at short.

Hadfield’s 11, Fran’s 10: Pitching for Hadfield’s was Kaileen Langlois and Toby Sznaj. Nina Urso had two hits while Amanda Johnson, Karalee Bouchard, Hannah Ciarcia, Julia St. Amand and DeAna Gibson had one hit each. Playing well defensively were Haley Hauptfeld and Emily Davis

Hadfield’s 12, Farmington 3: Pitching for Hadfield’s was Krista Fasciano and Kaileen Langlois. Haley Hauptfled had three hits, Kaileen Langlois had two while Hannah Ciarcia, Toby Sznaj, Nina Urso and Krista Fasciano had a hit each. Playing well defensively were Julia St. Amand, DeAna Gibson, Karalee Bouchard and Emily Davis

Hadfield’s 8, Visual Perceptions 6: Pitching very well for Hadfield’s was Krista Fasciano.  Getting two hits each were DeAna Gibson and Julia St. Amand. Krista Fasciano, Hannah Ciarcia and Toby Sznaj had one hit each. Great plays defensively were by Amanda Johnson and Hannah Ciarcia.

MINORS

Rogers Market softball team recorded a 13-2 victory against the New Britain Orioles at Hubbard School. 

Pitchers Alexa Monroe, Marie Reilly and Lindsay Walsh held the Orioles to two runs while the hitting was led by Jenna Cooney, Jillian Parmalee and Kelly Brett.
