(Updated) Water Main Break Wreaks Havoc Along Chamberlain Highway Monday

A broken water main flooded the Chamberlain Highway early Monday and led to detours and delays, as well as leaving some without water throughout the day.

The Chamberlain Highway was scheduled to reopen Monday evening, but not before a day full of road flooding, detours and lack of water for residents in the area.

An early morning water main break along the Chamberlain Highway in the area of Norton Road made for a busy day, officials said, with early flooding and repairs forcing detours and delays throughout most of the day, officials confirmed.

The water main first broke around 2:30 a.m. and most water was cleared by morning, but repairs forced police to close the northbound lane for most of the day before reopening in the evening.

Many in town were left without water as repairs were made, but all repairs were completed and water scheduled to be repeated on Monday evening.
