Scenes From The Berlin Memorial Day Parade - Photo Gallery

Parade ceremony at Veterans Park both rousing and emotional.

It was a beautiful morning in Berlin for the annual Memorial Day Parade.

This was one of the biggest and most well-attended parades in recent memory.

Residents lined the parade route and grabbed candy thrown from the groups who participated and walked in the parade.

The loudest ovations were saved for the veterans marching and riding in cars in uniforms.

"I would like to thank the Veterans Commission for organizing today's parade," Berlin Mayor Adam Salina said. "What a wonderful display of community support and remembrance for those who fought for our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

"It was an honor to have Senator Blumenthal participate today and offer his inspirational remarks at our Memorial Day ceremony. I would also like to thank Rep. Joe Aresimowicz for his service as a veteran and his participation in marching with the Town Council and Board of Education members this morning."

The parade ended at Veterans Park. Senator Richard Blumenthal addressed the large crowd and the Berlin High School band entertained. There was a gun volley and Taps was played as well.
