Route 15 has reopened after a morning accident led police to shut down the road for more than an hour when a utility pole was knocked across the Berlin Turnpike in an accident at the intersection of Woodlawn Road.

The accident, which occurred around 11:30 a.m., caused the the utility pole to cross back across the road and left the the northbound side of the road impassable.

The accident caused the driver only minor injuries, police said.

Updated 12:34 p.m.
A one-car accident that included injuries to at least one individual has forced Berlin and Connecticut State Police to close the Berlin Turnpike in the area of Woodlawn Road, just south of Deming Road.

Berlin police clarified an initial report, saying that despite state police information, the accident actually occurred in the area of Woodland, not near exit 1. The road is closed with a detour to northbound traffic.

Police are on scene and have described the accident as "potentially serious." Ambulance and other rescue apparatus were called to the scene, although further details were not immediately available.

The northbound lanes of Route 15 will remain closed until an investigation is complete and the road is cleared. Motorists are asked to seek additional routes.

Berlin Police Dept. is also reporting this at the intersection of Woodlawn. Bob Mayer would have known the difference.

I sincerely thank the Berlin Police for doing a fine job directing traffic on the Berlin Turnpike following this accident.
