Updated 12:34 p.m.
A one-car accident that included injuries to at least one individual has forced Berlin and Connecticut State Police to close the Berlin Turnpike in the area of Woodlawn Road, just south of Deming Road.

Berlin police clarified an initial report, saying that despite state police information, the accident actually occurred in the area of Woodland, not near exit 1. The road is closed with a detour to northbound traffic.

Police are on scene and have described the accident as "potentially serious." Ambulance and other rescue apparatus were called to the scene, although further details were not immediately available.

The northbound lanes of Route 15 will remain closed until an investigation is complete and the road is cleared. Motorists are asked to seek additional routes.
