New Britain-Berlin YMCA to Hold 130th Annual Meeting

Join the YMCA to celebrate 130 years of serving the community.

The New Britain-Berlin YMCA will hold their 130th Annual Meeting, representing 131 years of service to the community on Wednesday, April 2.

During the Annual Meeting, members will share stories of their recent successes and outline plans for the year to come. The 130th Annual Meeting will be held at the Hawthorne Inn, 2421 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, from 5 to 8 p.m. All members of the community are welcome to attend this event free of charge. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served followed by dessert and coffee.

The Y also will be honoring several members of our community for exemplary service to the YMCA over the past year. Receiving the Youth Development Award will be the Joseph Manzi Foundation, the Social Responsibility Award will be presented to Mooreland Hill School, and the Healthy Living Award will go to long-time members Fenmore and Gladys Feigenbaum.

Founded in 1883, the New Britain-Berlin YMCA was a safe haven, providing good influences, a place to sleep, and a healthy lifestyle to the young men in the Greater New Britain area. As time went on, the Y has become a place with activities and services for the entire family, all under one roof. Their impressive facility now spans 90,000 square feet on the corner of High Street and Columbus in New Britain.

This winter, the Y expanded its outreach yet again with the addition of the Y Childcare and Program Center located at 10 Chamberlain Highway in Berlin, and the Marjorie Moore Youth and Teen Center located at 362 Main St, Kensington.
