Hungerford Nature Center Offers Variety of Summer Programs

Beginning July 4, you can get a special discount on yearly family membership.

Summer Discovery Classes at Hungerford begin July 8 and run through August 16. These classes are designed for children in first-third grade and are held Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon. 

Each week has a different topic and children can sign up for one week or all five. The member price is $90 and non-member price is $120 for each five day session. Some of the topics are: Reptiles & Amphibians, Insects, Water Works and Native Peoples.

Hungerford is also offering pre-school summer programs beginning July 9 and ending August 13. Each session is three weeks on Tuesdays 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Children ages 3 to 5 will enjoy meeting Hungerfords animals, having snacks and doing crafts. Topics are Connecticut Critters July July 9-23 and Goo-ology, July 30 to August 13. Each session is $24 for members and $30 for non-members.

Beginning July 4 through Labor Day, The New Britain Youth Museum at Hungerford Park, 191 Farmington Ave. Kensington is offering a special discount of $10 off the price of a $40 yearly family membership. Membership benefits include free admission, four free guest passes, discounted birthday parties and classes.
