History Is Made At The Berlin Fairgrounds

The Berlin Fairgrounds hosts its first-ever wedding between two Lions Club members.

From its inception in 1882 as a Harvest Festival, The Berlin Fair remains a focal point of the community. In the early 1900’s, the festival became the State Agricultural Fair and was held annually until 1919. It was brought back to life in 1948 by The Berlin Lions Club.

In that time, the fairgrounds has seen a lot of firsts.

But, Saturday it saw another first.

Two members of the Berlin Lions Club, Debbie Letizio and Dave Mangone, were married and had their reception on the grounds of the fairgrounds. According to the Lions, it is believed to be the first wedding ever at the Fairgrounds.

Letizio said that when she and Mangone were planning their wedding the Fairgrounds was their first choice.

The Lions Club Board of Directors had to vote on allowing the ceremony and it was passed unanimously. Both Letizio and Mangone are fixtures at the Fairgrounds during the Fair and any other function the Lions set up.
