Flooded Basements, Road Closures

Heavy rain takes its toll.

The sunrise this morning met homeowners and residents of town with flooded basements and water covering roads all over town.

Scanner traffic peppered blips of fire departments going to the aid of homeowners with water in their basements. Some reported five to six inches and one reported two feet of water in the basement.

The heavy rain over night, along with melting snow combined to swamp basements and cover roads.

Reservoir Road and Brook Meadow were closed as well as Norton Road, near McGee School. The Citgo on Mill Street also had water over the road. Chamberlain Highway near the Meriden town line and Beckley Mills were also closed along with many others this morning as of 8 a.m.

If there are signs of the road closure, officials urge you not to try to maneuver through the water. The road is closed for a reason. They also ask if you come along a road with water over it, do not proceed but call police at let them know of the unpassable road.

If you have flood photos you can either upload them on this story or e-mail them to robert.mayer@patch.com.
