(Updated: 12:27 p.m.) Berlin Cancels Activites, Meetings as Town Braces for Winter Storm

A winter storm is headed to Berlin and the town is taking caution to make sure students and residents arrive home safe beforehand.

Updated: 12:27 p.m.
Berlin Parks and Recreations has cancelled all afternoon activities and a Berlin Town Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled to Jan. 28 as snow approaches the state.

The cancellations are a direct result of a storm that could push upwards of a foot of snow on Berlin Tuesday evening and into Wednesday.

Original Story
Berlin schools will dismiss early in preparation for a winter storm that could bring upwards of near a foot of snow, and with the timing of the storm, more delays or cancellations could be on their way over the next 24 hours.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm watch is in effect from Tuesday afternoon until late Tuesday night.

Snow accumulations of four to eight inches, and the chance of some locally higher accumulations, are possible across Connecticut. North winds could be 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.
