Berlin Parks and Rec. Calls Winners In Scarecrow Contest

Scarecrows dress up Farmington Avenue.

The Berlin Parks and Recreation Department held its eighth annual Scarecrow and Fall Foliage Festival in Volunteer Park on Saturday, October 13, 2012.

Jon Condie entertained the group on his guitar. Rose Wollman and Terri Noyes coordinated the event with Debbie Dennis, Assistant Director of Recreation.  Judges for the Scarecrow portion of the event included Denise McNair, Berlin’s Town Manager, Rachel Rochette, Deputy Mayor for the Town of Berlin, Maggie Morrell, a member of the Town of Berlin’s Town Council and Kathy O’Donnell Moss, Berlin Board of Education member.

The Berlin High School UpBeat  Adventure and Carnival houses under the direction of Alice Mitchell helped with the Fall Foliage event with balloon animals, face painting and arts and crafts. This year the Berlin Parks and Recreation Department joined with the Purple Pumpkin Project: Epilepsy Awareness by painting small purple pumpkins.
