Library Showing 'Star Wars' Saturday

Beginning of month-long series of activities.

Library Happenings for March

The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library is, once again, offering a number of fun and interesting programs for the month of March.

On March 12, and 19, starting at 1 p.m., Family Film Fun @ the Library will be presenting the “Star Wars” movies. March 12 – Attack of the Clones, and March 19 – Revenge of the Sith. The movies continue into April also. On April 2 – Star Wars – the original, April 9 – The Empire Strikes Back, and April 16 – Return of the Jedi. Popcorn will be provided and you may bring a cushion or blanket.

On Monday, March 21, the gardening series, “Not for Green Thumbs Only”, will present ”Daylilies 101.” Richard Howard, who is past president of the Connecticut Daylily Society, will focus upon the various types of daylilies, as well as their attributes and requirements. This presentation is sponsored by The Friends of the Library and begins at 7 p.m. Please call the library to register.

A monthly Berlin History series begins on Thursday, March 24, at 7p.m. Sally Caliandri will explain, “The First Settlers: Why there is no town green.”

The monthly food and cooking series, “Sweet, Savory and Simply Delicious,” will present “Dishes from the Dominical Republic.” Native Dominican Republic cook, Clarisa Medina will explain plantains, mangu and much more. Free samples are guaranteed. This presentation is also sponsored by The Friends of the Library, and will be given Monday, March 21 at 7 p.m. Please call the library to register.

AARP is still offering tax help for seniors on Tuesday mornings. Call the library for an appointment.

            The Story Time schedule continues as follow:

            Monday, 10:30 a.m. – Babies and Books – ages 6-24 months.

            Tuesday 1:30 p.m. – Preschool – ages 3-6.

            Wednesday – 10:30 a.m. – Terrific Toddlers – 18-36 months.

            Thursday – 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – Family – all ages.

            All of the above Story Times are on a drop-in basis.
