Candlelight Prayer Service Held For Father Michael

Quickly put-together vigil draws 100 people.

Parishoners of St. Paul Church quickly put together a candlelight prayer service for Father Michael Miller, who was taken to St. Francis Hospital Monday morning by Life Star after being stricken by an unknown illness.  Approximately 100 people came to the St. Paul Church parking lot and circled around a single red candle.  Father Robert, another priest at St. Paul, was taken aback when he saw the group had gathered. "Why didn't you let me know you were coming? You should have shot me an e-mail," he said. "How did you get all of you together tonight? (someone shouts facebook.) Oh that facebook starts revolutions."  Father Robert gave the group an update on Father Michael. "I just came back from the hospital and his family is here now so he is in good hands," he said. "Before I left, he woke up and shook my hand so that was a great sign but he needs all of your prayers so that he can get well and return to us here at St. Paul. I don't want to say what happened to him because even though we are public figures I want to respect his privacy." Teresa Lee, who lost her 19-year old son Ryan in late April to a tragic auto accident earlier this year, spoke about how Father Michael helped her family through their grief. "At Ryan's service, Father Michael talked about how he had a night light and it was the light that got him through," she said. "He told us that Ryan was our light. What I don't think Father Michael knows is that he is that light for all of us at St. Paul, especially the children." The group then prayed the Rosary.
